Moie
Moie is a hamlet in the municipality of Maiolati Spontini, in the province of Ancona. It is located in the Vallesina (the valley crossed by the Esino river).
The town is adjacent to the hamlets of ‘Stazione’ in the municipality of Castelbellino and ‘Pozzetto’ in the municipality of Castelplanio. The town is crossed by the Esino river along its entire length. It is separated to the north from the municipality of Montecarotto by a hill, known by the inhabitants as ‘Monte Taddé’, while to the north-west it borders the hamlet of Pozzetto di Castelplanio. To the east, it borders the hamlet of Scorcelletti. To the south-east, it borders (sharing the main road with it) the hamlet of Stazione in the municipality of Castelbellino, which borders the entire southern side of the town, except for the road connecting the municipality itself to the hamlet, known by the inhabitants as “strada Boccolina” (Boccolina road) due to its steep gradient and the large number of dangerous bends that characterise it. Finally, to the west, it borders the municipality of Castelplanio.
